Example #18 - TAWS (Terrain Awareness Warning System) Demo
Imagine that you are creating an EFB (an Electronic Flight Bag) application and you want to warn the pilot about the terrain he/she might run into. For example, if the pilot is flying at 4,000 feet, you want the application to paint all terrain over 4,000 feet red, and all terrain near 4,000 feet yellow. In the BA3 Altus Mapping Engine, this is done with TAWS (the Terrain awareness and warning system). By setting up a TAWS color bar, the terrain is painted appropriately.
